Notifications

Also called: bell notifications, notification bell, push notifications

Subscribers pick All, Personalised or None on the bell, and only All reliably fires an alert on every upload. In Analytics, notifications appear as a traffic source of their own, so you can see how many views the alert delivered rather than guessing. Two things surprise people. Subscriber count and notification reach are barely related, because YouTube stops pushing a channel's mobile notifications to a viewer who has not watched or interacted for around a month, routing new uploads to their YouTube inbox instead. Bell subscribers decay. Keeping them means viewers who keep watching, since inactivity is what switches the alerts off.
