Playlists group videos by topic, series or intended viewing order, and while somebody is watching inside one the playlist decides what comes next rather than the recommendation system. They carry their own title, description and analytics, and they can be pinned as sections on the channel homepage. Anyone can build one from any public video, including other people's. Two things creators overlook. The order is a decision, so the strongest opener belongs first regardless of upload date. And a shared playlist URL keeps the follow-on play inside your playlist, where a plain video link hands the next slot back to whatever the system picks.
