Termination clause
Also called: exit clause, get-out clause, cancellation clause
A workable clause covers the notice period, what happens to work already delivered or in progress, whether any fee already paid is refundable, and which obligations survive the ending, typically confidentiality and any exclusivity window. The one to read carefully is termination for convenience, which lets a brand walk away for no reason at all. If the contract has it, ask for a kill fee so a shoot you have already scheduled and paid for does not leave you out of pocket. Read this clause before you read the fee, because it determines whether the fee is real.
