Third-party AI training setting

Also called: AI training opt-in, third-party training

Sitting in Studio under channel settings, this control lets a channel allow named third-party companies to train generative models on its uploads, allow all of them, or allow none. The list holds the large AI firms you would expect, and the choice can be changed later.

What it does not cover causes the confusion. The setting governs those outside companies, and says nothing about how Google itself uses uploads under YouTube's own terms of service, which is a separate agreement. Switching it off also does nothing about material already scraped, or about videos reaching a model through some other route, so its reach is narrower than the name suggests.
