Channel Strategy & Niche

Topic channel

Also called: auto-generated channel

YouTube builds these itself. When a track reaches YouTube Music through a distributor, the system generates a video for it and files it on a channel carrying the artist's name followed by the word Topic, with nobody logged in anywhere. Nobody can edit one. There is no dashboard and no way to reply to comments posted on it. Artists find them by searching their own name and assume somebody has re-uploaded their catalogue. The route out is claiming an Official Artist Channel, which merges the topic channel's catalogue into the channel the artist actually runs.
