YouTube ran one non-personalised list of what was popular in each country. A slot on it counted as a milestone. The page and its Trending Now list were retired in July 2025, with YouTube saying viewers had moved to finding trends through personalised recommendations, search suggestions, Shorts, comments and Communities. What remains is YouTube Charts, a set of category lists covering trending music videos, top podcast shows and trending movie trailers. Nobody could ever buy placement on the old page. Older advice about engineering a video onto Trending points at something that no longer exists.
