Podcast

An RSS file lists the episodes, apps subscribe to it, and new episodes arrive on their own. That feed is what makes a podcast a podcast, and it is why the format stayed open while everything else consolidated onto platforms. What changed is the camera. Discovery inside audio apps is thin, so most shows now film as well and post the video on YouTube, where a playlist can be marked as a podcast. The clips that fall out of it do most of the work of finding an audience.
