Viewer persona

Also called: audience avatar, ideal viewer, audience persona

A viewer persona names a specific person: what they already know, what they are trying to do, where they watch, and what would make them close the tab. Some creators base it on a real subscriber, some on a composite drawn from comments and analytics. Either way its use is decisive. When a title, a thumbnail concept or a whole video idea is up for debate, the persona settles it by asking who the work is for. Personas go wrong when they describe demographics instead of behaviour. Age, country and gender rarely tell you what someone wants from a video, whereas the query they typed into search does.
