Channel Strategy & Niche
YouTube handle
Also called: @handle, channel handle
Handles arrived in late 2022 and became the standard way to link a channel. Every channel got a youtube.com/@name address, whether or not it had qualified for the old custom URL, which required a subscriber minimum. Two channels can share a display name. Two channels cannot share a handle. Old custom URLs still resolve, so existing links keep working. Changing a handle is possible and it releases the old one for anyone else to claim, so anything printed, embedded or linked to the previous address stops pointing at you. Pick one you can live with and use the same name across your other accounts.
