View velocity

Also called: velocity, view speed

Velocity describes a rate: the views a video collects per hour or per day early in its life. Studio does not report it as a named metric, so creators read it off the realtime card and the first 48 hours graph, then compare it against what the channel normally does.

That comparison is the whole value, and it only holds when the videos being compared are alike. A video published on a Tuesday morning to a subscriber base of 900 has a different starting shape from a collaboration posted on a Saturday, so a slow first day means very little on its own.
