Internal linking

Internal linking is how pages on the same domain point at each other, through navigation, contextual links in body copy, and hub pages that gather a topic. Two effects. Crawlers find pages faster and understand how they relate, and the authority a page has earned from external links flows along those internal links to the pages it points at. Descriptive anchor text does most of the work here, since a link reading read more tells a search engine nothing while one reading how to read a retention graph names its target. Creators with a blog or knowledge base usually under-link, and their strongest pages sit isolated.
