Channel Strategy & Niche

Niche Down

Also called: niching down, niching, going niche, narrowing your niche

Narrowing means picking a smaller subject and turning down everything outside it. Small channels tend to do better starting inside a narrow patch and widening later than starting broad and hunting for focus afterwards, because a broad start makes the core audience harder to gather in the first place. Where it goes wrong is treating the patch as permanent. It is an opening position, and the widening is meant to happen once there are people who turn up for you rather than for the topic.
