Sound attribution

Also called: Sound from, audio credit

When a Short is built from somebody else's sound, YouTube attributes it back to the original and links through to it. Every remix therefore becomes a route to the source. Your own videos are available for remix by default, and you can switch that off for a single video in Studio or across a catalogue in Content Manager, which mutes the remixes people already made from it. The mistake is treating attribution as permission. It is a credit and a discovery surface, and it says nothing about who owns the underlying recording.
